Process
Live wedding art is a great way to not only capture the joy of your wedding day, but also provide a unique source of entertainment for your guests. Live art is also a one of a kind way to celebrate an anniversary, retirement party or other important events. Getting started is easy.
Step 1 (Contact): Simply contact me and we can schedule your event.
Step 2 (The Event): On the day of your event I will arrive early and set up my gear. I will quickly create a digital sketch of the painting’s composition. Once I have your approval (or your wedding planner’s) I can get started. While the photographer is taking photos, I will get a quick photo for reference. I usually wait until the reception to start painting to avoid any distraction from the actual wedding ceremony, but if you want me to paint during the ceremony I will.
Step 3 (Painting): At the reception, I will capture your wedding in the form of a watercolor painting for any interested guests to see. People often have questions and comments for me, which are more than welcome as I can work and talk at the same time. I love interacting with your guests, and they are fascinated by the process. I can have the painting 95% completed in about 2 hours.
Step 4 (Final Touches): I work quickly, but I usually like to take the painting home, so I can fine tune any last details. If I am traveling to your event, I will complete the painting before I leave. If that is not an option, I can ship it to you. The finished painting is 22”x30”.
Step 5 (Framing): I do not frame the paintings for you, but I highly recommend having your finished artwork framed. Watercolor paintings can be kept without glass, but good museum glass will help protect the artwork and can also enhance the colors in the painting. Below is an example of a finished framed painting.
